Where Are We: Before and After Corona
Will corona change the world? This is the question that no one can predict the answer to this day.
Today, there is a frightening and ambiguous global discussion about the effects of the pandemic corona virus on humankind. The public and private conversations do not answer the questions: what will each day unfold and what will the future bring in a post-corona world?
There is no doubt that crises and difficulties have befallen people in their entire history on this earth. Wars, diseases and the dismal living conditions that follow, throughout history, create a challenge and state of self-reflection in humans that is neglected in periods of more natural and balanced circumstances.
The corona virus rocked the globe two months ago and shows no signs of desisting. It has brought certain responsibilities to the forefront, specifically the desire to innovate whatever is medically necessary to rid the world of this epidemic and return us to world beyond corona.
In the future interpretation and analysis of world events, politics, economics, media and social media, time will be referred to as “pre-corona” and “post-corona. Corona will accelerate certain decisions that were previously postponed, delayed and suspended. It will also lead us to find solutions to our impeded economic states and will make the thorny issues that seemed too complicated in the past, debatable and surmountable obstacles with solutions.
Most people around the world are in a state of preemptive quarantine because of the need to limit the spread of corona in both public and private spaces. Governments worldwide have taken bold and quick decisions to limits the spread of this epidemic by restricting travel and closing borders in order to protect their citizens and limit the rapid spread of this virus and the consequences that will follow.
Without a doubt, Corona will positively change the world. Mankind will come to realize, after this global standstill of daily life, that we must approach our second chance filled with hope and determination. We must work on building new cultural, technological, economic and scientific solutions, most of which will help us reevaluate major mistakes committed before Corona, including military, economic, political and racial fights started for the sake of control that cause nothing but misery and humiliation and interrupt the development and coexistence of fellow people.
I do not want my article to only create the illusion of good intentions between people. Politicians have many important international decisions to make in the weeks to come, but what I want to highlight is that all people have become fully aware that our one and only enemy is a threat to our health, a virus called corona. This virus threatened to debilitate all of humanity without discrimination against our race, ethnicity or religion.
We must know that this great lesson, we did not plan to learn, stems from a serious catastrophe, and the hope is that it will not be repeated. The wisdom in drawing this conclusion is to avoid the eradication of humankind.
